A return to Wembley four years on after the success in the leyland daff cup Blues are there again in the same competition but now the re-named Auto Windscreen shield.
Blues are back in the third division but doing well and looking like they can escape it !! (They eventually did) They are up against 4th Division Carlisle United who are top off there division !!
The Fletcher family travel up on the coach, they bump in to a few people they know, Adam Owen, Martin Dallaway, a couple of others !! The flags are flying, the lads are a bit older now so can remember a bit more.
The game begins and is very edgy, both teams seem a little worried to attack, Carlisle cause a few problems going forward, the games goaless at the break !!
Second half begins and again the game is cagey, both teams make a couple of chances but can not find a breakthrough and the game ends goalless !!
Theres extra time and due to the introduction off the ''golden goal'' for the first time in Wembley history its first team to scores win !! Basically next goal wins !!
Extra time begins, both teams are nervous as a goal against you and you''ve lost !! Carlisle play well but towards the end of extra time Blues win it, Ricky Otto who didn''t do a lot during his Blues career puts in a delightful cross and blues born and bread Paul Tait heads home to win the game !! Tait brilliantly runs to the Birmingham supporters and takes his top off and has a t-shirt on with the words ''S**T ON THE VILLA'' !! BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!
Birmingham collect the shield, Lorraine claims Steve Claridge blew some kisses to her during the after match celebration !!
The supporters head home happy as Blues now must consontrate on gaining promotion, a goal that is achieved at Huddersfield on the final day !!
