Comments :
Charlton had to win this match to have any chance of avoiding relegation. The Addicks ultimately survived, thanks largely to Sheffield United losing 1-0 at Cambridge United. This defeat meant the Blades had to win by the unlikely margin of 9-0 at Bramall Lane in their final match of the season against Leicester City. In the event, United could only manage a 2-2 draw.
