This was just a random midweek match I picked out when I had a bit of time on my hands.   Dagenham is on the District Line and as my home at the time was easily accessible to Richmond (also on the District Line), I thought it would be well worth doing.   The tube journey took about 1 hour 30 in total, which is a fairly long time to spend on a tube train, but once I finally got off at Dagenham East, it was an easy 15 minute walk to the ground.   From the outside it was much like I had expected.  Pretty much how I imagine most non-league grounds appear.  Small terracing at both ends, with a walkway most of the way round the pitch.  One small main grandstand and covered terracing on the opposite side. I got myself a burger and tea from the van by the entrance and decided to make my way for the Cowshed on the opposite side which was all included in the same entrance fee as the end terrace.  I positioned myself about in line with the edge of the penalty area and found crush barrier to lean on.  The crowd was fairly sparse as you might expect but there was one chap to the right of me who was on his own too.   Immediately after the game had kicked off, I glanced down at my programme only to look up and see a long-range effort fired in that went narrowly wide of the goal closest to me.  "Ooooooof!" I instinctively cried.  Only to look round and realise that it had been a Hereford striker with the shot, making my enthusiasm seem a little suspiscous! As the game wore on the chap to the right of me become more animated as The Daggers got more and more into the game.  Hereford looked a decent unit, with Jamie McCombe's brother marshalling the defence, but on half time Dagenham took the lead.   I went and had a bit of a look round the ground at the break and found a very interesting programme shop situated in what looked like a metal container you see on Cargo Ships!  This was behind the end terrace.   There was little of note in the second half apart from the chap next to me trying to engage me in conversation more and more.  I finally had to tell him I was neutral and merely there to tick off the ground as part of the 92!   Overall The Victoria Ground was a nice place to go.  It had bags of character and fitted it's purpose well.
