| Mad March 1990 saw me makes trips to Torquay on a Tuesday, Norwich and now Hartlepool. I got stopped by the Police on the M6 - my tax disc had slipped out of view - the copper found it hard to believe that I was driving to Warrington to catch 2 trains to Hartlepool to see a 4th division game where I supported neither team. I think he was glad to help me on my way. I can''t remember the game but I remember missing the train, so I had to drive all the way, the proximity of the North Sea, and being offered gravy on my cheese pie!
There were 20 Torquay fans huddled against the Gents on the open terrace, they watched their team get a 1-1 draw, I guess that made the 365 mile return trip worthwhile?
