Fortunately, I had looked up the Wimbledon website and taken their advice to purchase a ticket in advance. A number of people were turned away including a family who had driven up from Dorset (according to one of the fans I stood with). The ticket collection was chaotic. Two women sat at a table issuing the ticket but there seemed no clear plan. Sometimes names were read out, people crowded round and it was a credit to those there that there was no unpleasantness. My ticket could not be found in their little plastic box, so a third lady went to investigate. Somehow they had got my first name (Graham) as the surname. What this meant was that I got into the ground at five to three, by which time the covered end was full. The only place left was the John Smith's terrace which I nominate as the worst side in football. The 'steps' are wide (Metre plus) and very shallow, with the result that about half the pitch diagonally across is obscured by bobbing heads. I did not see any of the three goals at that end. To offset this, the fans I stood with were great. Also, unlike Crawley and Stevenage, shirts on the train to Norbiton and in the area clearly showed there was a match on. Wimbledon is a great story and they have created a proper football club. If they can sort out that dreadful side things should be fine but for the time being get tckets for the away end.
