One of the great games of the era, when a departing Beckford was made captain for the day, and played his role brilliantly. In front of a full stadium Leeds slipped out of promotion positions at one point when they were 1-0 down and someone like Huddersfield Town were winning. Leeds were already down to 10 men as Gradel had been sent off. But Howson equalised and Beckford got the winner in a 2-1 win. Leeds United''s three long years in the third division was over!

Last match of the season and Leeds pull off the win to secure promotion to the Championship. Typical Leeds match where the team had us chewing our finger nails down to the wick. 1-0 down just after half time and then Max Gradel's rush of blood to the head earns him a red card but Leeds pull it off with two quick goals and the wnner coming from Leeds boy Johnny Howson. Fairy tale ending to a nerve racking season.
